Welcome to the Economy Days 2012!

The 2012 edition

About 500 people attended the 6th edition of the Economy Days on 8 and 9 February 2012. Against a difficult economic background in Europe, this event provided an opportunity for an in-depth analysis of the challenges and opportunities ahead for Luxembourg and Europe.
During these two half-days, entrepreneurs, economists and public authorities from Luxembourg and the Greater Region discussed what actions may be undertaken to promote the development of businesses. They shared their experiences and viewpoints on drivers of the Luxembourg's economy such as innovation and re-industrialisation projects. They also examined the strategies of exporting companies in the current economic conditions.

During this year’s event, Mr Claude Wiseler, Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, initiated the discussions of the first half-day. Mr Henri Grethen, former Minister of Economy and Transports, conducted a debate on the industrial strategy with all the speakers as a conclusion of this first half-day. On 9 February, Mr Etienne Schneider, Minister of the Economy and Foreign Trade, gave his first official speech since his appointment and introduced his plans for the upcoming years. We were also honoured to welcome His Royal Highness Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume.

The Economy Days have been held every year in February since 2007 and have been bringing together a community of entrepreneurs and decision-makers from both Luxembourg and the Greater Region. This event is an opportunity for them to discuss the global economic challenges and to think of ways to promote the development of businesses from Luxembourg and the Greater Region. Over the years, professionals have come to view this conference as one of the highlights of the year in Luxembourg. This success has been mostly due to the involvement of the three main organisers, i.e. the Observatoire de la Compétitivité of the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade, the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and the Fedil - Business Federation Luxembourg. Private partners such as Paperjam, RTL or PwC Luxembourg have also been instrumental in making sure this event a success.
